COMMUNITY INFO SESSION
PROTECTING THE FISH CREEK WATERSHED
Thursday October 4, 2012 7:00-9:30pm
FREE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
Canyon Meadows Community Centre (848 Cantabrian
Drive SW)
This exciting evening event will allow
residents of the communities surrounding Fish Creek Provincial Park to engage
in discussion and dialogue with local environmental experts. Join fun and engaging
speakers from a variety of environmental and conservation organizations: Dr.
Hamid Habibi, University of Calgary Faculty of Science and Faculty of Medicine;
Bernard Amell, Engineered Wetland Consultant; Brian Meagher, Provincial
Biologist with Trout Unlimited Canada, and Mark Bennett of the Bow River Basin
Council, as we examine environmental issues facing the Fish Creek
Watershed.
The Friends are
also pleased to have Mac Hickley, Executive Director of the Calgary River
Valleys, in attendance to welcome the audience.
Through
the Watershed Public Awareness program, the Friends are working with community
members to help protect the quality of the water in the creek and preserve the
Fish Creek Watershed. By taking action to maintain the health of the creek,
future generations will have the same opportunities we do to enjoy the
unparalleled beauty and natural diversity of Fish Creek Provincial Park.
The
Watershed Public Awareness program made possible through grants from the
Alberta Real Estate Foundation, the Bow River Basin Council, Brookfield
Residential and the Alberta Conservation Association. This project was funded
in part through the Watershed Stewardship Grant, a program of Land Stewardship
Centre.
