Today along the Bow River - September 2012

What a day! When this photo was taken at noon, the dogs and their fly fishing masters were basking in 20.0 °C. By 6:00 pm, the temp was down to 10 °C. By 9:00 pm, it was 5.0 °C, but only 1.5 °C with the wind chill!

Monday's cold front has left us in a cooler air mass through Wednesday. Frost warnings are out north and west of Calgary for Monday night, where temperatures could fall below the freezing point, especially in the foothills. Temperatures will be below average Tuesday and Wednesday, before rising above average on Thursday.

Streamflow conditions in the province are generally normal to above normal at this time of year.

Changes over the past 24 hours, unless otherwise indicated.

Bow River at Banff: fluctuating 31 cms - 34 cms
Bow River at Calgary: 70 cms (decreased from 80 cms - 85 cms)
Bow River below Carseland Dam: fluctuating 62 cms - 74 cms

- On Thursday July 27, the Bow River at Calgary decreased 60 cms, from 273 cms down to 213 cms.)

- On Friday August 03, the flow rate of the Bow River at Calgary came down to below 200 cms for the first time since early June.

- On Wednesday Aug 15, the flow rate of the Bow River at Calgary came down to below 150 cms for the first time since early June.

- On Monday Aug 20, the flow rate of the Bow River at Calgary came down to around 105 cms for the first time since early June.

- On Wednesday Sept 05, the flow rate of the Bow River at Calgary came down to below 100 cms for the first time since mid-May.
