Today along the Bow River - August 2012

Today was the maiden voyage of this beautiful wooden drift boat that took some ten months for these three friends to build.

Streamflow conditions in the province are generally normal to above normal at this time of year.

Changes over the past 24 hours, unless otherwise indicated.

Bow River at Banff: 34 cms (unchanged from 34 cms)
Bow River at Calgary: 87 cms (decreased from 92 cms)
Bow River below Carseland Dam: 78 cms (decreased from 103 cms over past 48 hrs).

- On Thursday July 27, the Bow River at Calgary decreased 60 cms, from 273 cms down to 213 cms.)

- On Friday August 03, the flow rate of the Bow River at Calgary came down to below 200 cms for the first time since early June.

- On Wednesday Aug 15, the flow rate of the Bow River at Calgary came down to below 150 cms for the first time since early June.

- On Monday Aug 20, the flow rate of the Bow River at Calgary came down to around 105 cms for the first time since early June.

- On Wednesday Sept 05, the flow rate of the Bow River at Calgary came down to below 100 cms for the first time since mid-May.

Warmer than Average

High pressure in the upper levels will keep the sky clear, and help to draw warm air into Western Canada. Temperatures over the next few days will be above average with bright sunshine. Our next chance at any rain doesn't happen until Monday, as cooler air returns.
