Today along the Bow River - October 2014

Photo, © Bow River Shuttles

We made stops at every single boat launch today. Still a lot of fall colours strutting their stuff! More folks are floating Mac to Legacy and Legacy to Johnson's Island/Carseland than in some prior years. One shuttle client reported a half dozen trout to the boat, mostly on the SJW, with a couple on flash back pheasant tail.

This week in their fishing report, Fish Tales Fly Shop wrote: "Don’t put away the gear yet…. The forecast continues to look great."

A family trip on the Bow today!

Nick and his wife Mel usually fish the Bow from their large tandem pontoon boat, which is outfitted with a fishing frame.

However, Nick's sister Barbara from Toronto is visiting, and they needed a three person drift boat. Our Clackacraft rental boat fit the bill!

Bow river anglers should continue to hit the water for the coming week and beyond. Shorter days may mean shortened opportunities but take advantage of whatever time you have."

Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?

Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative writes: "Y2Y challenges everyone to get more connected - both to nature and each other. Put down your phone and go for a walk in the park. Get off the computer and hike with your friends, or simply share splendid conversation with someone you care about."

Our 2014 spring showed up several weeks late. Seems our fall is a few weeks late as well. The fall colours have been a bit staggered in their appearance, but this week we think the yellows and golds are at their best in many locations!

With many people suffering in silence due to fear of rejection and judgment, addressing mental health issues at work is vital for Canadian companies. No workplace is immune from the risk of mental health problems, regardless of size or sector. The workplace is a strong contributor to mental wellbeing, giving people the opportunity to achieve their potential and feel productive. It can also be a stressful environment that may contribute to increased mental health issues and illness.
