Traffic along the Bow was up today, with folks floating various reaches between Glenmore and McKinnon.

Trout Panther II

River traffic has been somewhat light over the past couple of days. Drift boaters who were out probably felt like they had the river mostly to themselves. And with temps still well above the 10°C average for this time of year, I'm sure they were all happy campers. :-)

Although we began our day at the Glenmore Trail/Graves Landing boat launch, today was one of those days where most of our shuttle clients were floating McKinnon to Legacy Island and McKinnon to Carseland.

Calgary made 23 degrees, close to the record of 23.9, set in 1940.

David Spence, CTV weather, reported: "More than two dozen high temperature records were set in Alberta Monday. The highest temperature, 27.3, was recorded at Medicine Hat."

A Sunday afternoon float trip on the Bow. We stopped in at every boat launch today, including Legacy Island.

'Indian summer forever' - at least that's what Steve Rothfels' headline was last night on his CTV weather post. That was certainly the case today, and will be right through Friday.

We made stops at every single boat launch today. Still a lot of fall colours strutting their stuff! More folks are floating Mac to Legacy and Legacy to Johnson's Island/Carseland than in some prior years. One shuttle client reported a half dozen trout to the boat, mostly on the SJW, with a couple on flash back pheasant tail.

This week in their fishing report, Fish Tales Fly Shop wrote: "Don’t put away the gear yet…. The forecast continues to look great."

A drift boat about to launch this morning, along with a solo fly fisher in the background.

After bouncing around the 100 cms mark for the past three days, the Bow River at Calgary dropped slowly over the day to 84 cms. That's still a higher flow rate than the long term average for late September.

It was a chilly 5.0 °C first thing this morning. Some of the vehicles we shuttled today had their heaters turned on. However, it eventually got up to 14°C. Tomorrow's forecast high is 21°C!

The boat launch at 22X/Fish Creek Park re-opened Friday Sept 19, 2014.

McKinnon Flats Access Road re-opened Friday Sept 26, 2014.
