Planning for Extremes

Extremes! Too much water? Not enough water? Either of these can cause serious problems whether you live in a rural or an urban environment. The Partners FOR the Saskatchewan River Basin (PFSRB) would like to announce our annual conference “Planning for Extremes” to be held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan November 16 – 18, 2011.

“Planning for Extremes”
Partners FOR the Saskatchewan River Basin Annual Conference
November 16 – 18, 2011
The Saskatoon Inn, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Over the past several years, the Prairie Provinces have seen dramatic evidence of extremes in weather conditions and water availability. Varying amounts and duration of precipitation have helped cause flooding and droughts in different areas of the region at the same time. Since we can not foresee what the future will hold, how can we plan for these extremes?

The purpose of this conference is to bring researchers, natural resource managers, policy makers and local stakeholders together to heighten awareness and share information on planning for extremes in the Saskatchewan River Basin. It is being planned as a communication and brainstorming session for the purpose of communication and idea exchange.

Accommodations at the Saskatoon Inn Hotel and Conference Centre are available at a conference rate of $129.00 per night plus all applicable taxes. The conference rate is in effect until October 17, 2011. Please contact the Saskatoon Inn directly at 306-242-1440 or toll free at 800-667-8789.
