As the flood waters started to recede in Calgary, dead fish were found
along Memorial Drive and in other communities along the rivers. Others
were stranded in small gravel pits and swales created by surging waters.
Teams of provincial fisheries staffers and volunteers worked for four
days to return more than 5,000 fish from 60 sites to their homes in the
Bow and Elbow rivers.
