WAYPOINTS (The City of Calgary) What folks are saying...

WAYPOINTS (The City of Calgary) What folks are saying...

I’m sure that everyone who got to enjoy WAYPOINTS on the Big Screen will remember the experience for some time to come.

Here are a few comments we received from WAYPOINTS (Calgary) fans:

“The locations were fantastic……lots of fun to dream about.” – John E.

“Like all Confluence movies… some of the best made.” - Don P.

“One of the very best - really enjoyed it....” – Gerry T.

“The stuff of dreams.” - Ron S.

There have also been a couple of reviews written recently.

- Angler’s Tonic

“I’m not going to go further with this. I want you to see this premiere tomorrow without knowing all that’s going to happen. I want you to be stunned and amazed and I think you will be. My only warning: if you’re the jealous type, you’ll feel a little pain watching all these people who aren’t you, having all the fun.”

- Kirk Deeter, Fly Talk, Field & Stream

“But as a writer, I can't help but reserve a deeper level of appreciation for quality words that capture the essence of not only the action, but also the culture. I like [fly fishing films] wrapped in themes, and I like them to have substance. Most of all I like them to inspire. Which is exactly why ‘Waypoints’ impressed me deeply.”

WAYPOINTS (The City of Calgary) Food Bank Donations

WAYPOINTS fans were generous with their donations to the Calgary Food Bank.

There were many Safeway $5 & $10 ‘Care Packages’ and Calgary Coop $10 ‘Food Bank Bags’ being added to the collection bin, along with bags from other food retailers.

We also received $180 in cash donations!!

Thank you to everyone who contributed.

For those who might not be aware, the Cardel Theatre, also the home of Michelle's 'Back Cast Fly Fishing Film Festival', provided their beautiful theatre free of charge, as they do for similar not-for-profit events. In return, they ask that event attendees bring a food bank donation.

WAYPOINTS (Calgary) Volunteers

WAYPOINTS (Calgary) Volunteers

It would be challenging to the max to host an evening event like this without help from friends and family.

I was fortunate to be able to call on volunteers from the Calgary Women Fly Fishers Club, Darlene K, Colleen C. and Leigh M. as well as my daughter Dione.

They all did an excellent job running the 'front end'. Thank you to each of you.

Darlene K. always does a great job at 'security' :-) greeting film night fans, checking tickets, handing out donated free passes and ensuring that no food or drink, except bottled water, gets into the theatre.

WAYPOINTS (Calgary) FRIENDS

The 'Friends of Back Cast Fly Fishing Film Festival' always add another interesting and lively dimension to our film events. I appreciate the time and effort they put in to joining us and setting up their displays.

Tamarah UnRuh (right) attended on behalf of the Bow Habitat Station. Prior to WAYPOINTS, Tamarah wrote: "We really do love it when the passionate anglers stop by BHS to find out more about Alberta’s fishes!"

The first 50 fans of WAYPOINTS through the door received complimentary passes to visit thier Discovery Centre, thanks to Tamara UnRuh of the Bow Habitat Station.

WAYPOINTS (Calgary) Sticky Ricky's

WAYPOINTS (Calgary) Sticky Ricky's

We asked WAYPOINTS fans to make an evening of it by coming early to "Enjoy a tasty dinner and a great movie".

Many did just that!

Just before the 7:00 pm start time for WAYPOINTS, Sticky Ricky's owner, Victoria, told us she was very happy with the number of Cajun/Creole meals that went through her food truck’s service window!

"The River Boat Queen" parked just steps from the Cardel Theatre lobby door.

"Laissez les bons temps rouler" (Cajun French)

Early adopters! These folks were the first in line for the River Boat Queen. Many others followed. Some opted for the long padded bench seat and the small round tables.

Others preferred the tall bar-style seats and the counter ledge.

"Laissez les bons temps rouler" seemed to be going on here.:-)

And here!

A little love from Sticky Ricky's!
