It’s been just over three months since the June floods hit southern Alberta, and it’s only natural that the desire for action to prevent another devastating flood is at fever pitch, but common sense dictates that these projects take time.

Editorial: A flood of momentum

Proceed with caution is watchword for flood mitigation projects

It’s been just over three months since the June floods hit southern Alberta, and it’s only natural that the desire for action to prevent another devastating flood is at fever pitch, but common sense dictates that these projects take time. 


There is no point rushing into something at tremendous cost when its viability has yet to be proven in the harsh light of day. Such is the attitude that must be taken toward the idea — put forward by the province’s expert panel on flood mitigation — of installing a drainage pipe that would release flood water from the Glenmore Reservoir into the Bow River.
