Treat our Alberta headwaters like the treasures they are (2nd notice)
Treat our Alberta headwaters like the treasures they are (2nd notice)
Bow River Shuttles writes: "We first reported on this petition on March 26. The petition
organizers noted that special interest groups with a stake in
business-as-usual want to ensure the upcoming South Saskatchewan
regional land use plan contains no limits on off-road abuse, increases
clear cut logging, and promotes more development.
An April 01 Calgary Herald article "Southern Alberta land-use plan raises ire of off-road users" (read article here http://bit.ly/16rnQHe) confirms that the 'business-as-usual' group have a petition of their own on the go that has over 8,000 signatures." On April 02, Trout Unlimited Canada wrote:
"For anyone interested in the headwaters of the South Saskatchewan
River please click on the link below for information on a petition
requesting that source water protection be the primary goal for the
eastern slopes in the land use framework's regional plan for southern
Alberta.
The regional plan will be released for final public
consultation shortly. At this point, the Alberta government is currently
considering many different competing options. If you think headwaters
protection should be a priority, have your voice heard."
