Lots of hits kept it interesting

Photo: Bow River Shuttles

Many thanks for the shuttle yesterday, much appreciated! Always a welcome sight to round the last bend & see the truck at the takeout!

I had a pretty slow day on the river yesterday. Fished from Mac to Carseland, on at 9am & came off just after 8pm as the wind really got up.

Very few people on the water & weather was great – no thunderstorms!

Water was remarkably high & visibility was only about 2ft max, I assume due to the Spray River situation.

Did catch one 17” rainbow & a few small fish, but couldn’t land about 6 others & had lots of hits which kept it interesting.

Used mostly white streamers from the pontoon boat, but black woolly buggers also worked.

Had nothing while nymphing despite fishing some usually good spots.

Saw only 2 small fish rising all day – very disappointing! Some caddis in the bushes & the odd light coloured mayfly but that was it.
