A day to celebrate, a day to change, a day to prepare.
World Water Day is marked on 22 March every year. It’s a day to celebrate water. It’s a day to make a difference for the members of the global population who suffer from water related issues. It’s a day to prepare for how we manage water in the future.

Calgary youths celebrated in honour of World Water Day
Today is UN-Water World Water Day
and across the city, our youth are taking steps to reduce their water
usage and educate others about the importance of water conservation
thanks to partners such as the CAWST - the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology
(CAWST). CAWST’s Youth Wavemakers program, is a unique water education
program that informs, engages and encourages action and celebrates the
impact that youth are having on local and global water and sanitation
issues.
This year, in honour of World Water Day, the actions of
students and others were celebrated at an event on Tuesday, March 19 at
Devonian Gardens. Read more here: http://bit.ly/10627QQ

World Water Day 2012 - March 22
There are 7 billion people to feed on the planet today and another 2 billion are expected to join by 2050.
Statistics say that each of us drinks from 2 to 4 litres of water every day, however most of the water we ‘drink’ is embedded in the food we eat: producing 1 kilo of beef for example consumes 15,000 litres of water while 1 kilo of wheat ’drinks up’ 1,500 litres.
When a billion people in the world already live in chronic hunger and water resources are under pressure we cannot pretend the problem is ‘elsewhere’.
