Method to measure success is needed, report says

As the province reopens talks on water, a review of Alberta’s water strategy says the government has made progress on the decade-old management plan but more needs to be done to measure its outcomes.

The Water for Life strategy was introduced in 2003 to protect the province’s rivers, lakes and groundwater. It led to the creation of the Alberta Water Council, an arm’s length body that conducts regular reviews of the action plan.

In its latest review, released in late December, the council suggests the province should “stay the course” on the plan.
