Mike, Max and I had a chance to do a quick float on Monday. We put in at Glenmore around 9:30 and floated to Fish Creek. It was a quick and enjoyable float on one of the warmer early spring days thus far.

Visibility at Glenmore was between 18″ and 24″ but that clarity diminished as we floated downstream and by the time we passed Fish Creek visibility was down to 8 – 12″. We had committed to streamer fishing and cycled through proven patterns like Galloup’s dungeons, Hickman’s flesh eating sculpin in black and brown, and others.

Floated Fish Creek to MacKinnon yesterday and the fishing was close to excellent. Fish began taking nymphs by 9 am and there was steady action until 1 pm, with a hit or a fish on every 10 minutes for the entire period. Fish were taking large golden stones, bright red worms and virtually any kind of caddis pupa. Streamer fishing was very slow with a variety of colours and retrieves tried.
